The Mall, packed with shops and eateries, is the center of attraction, and Scandal Point, associated with the former Maharaja of the Patiala 's escapades, offers a view of distant snowclad peaks.

Manali according to legend was born when the waters of the Great Deluge receded and the seventh Manu's ark came to the rest on a hillside in this valley. As the earth dried up there came up a place of breathtaking beauty which was named after the great sags. Over the last decade Manali has grown from a back of the beyond Himanchali town to a busy tourist destination. Surrounded by towering peaks at arms length, Manali's major asset is its proximity to the snowline, never more than a few hours drive from the town nestling at a comfortable 2,050 meters.

Dharamshala stands at the foot of Dhauladhar and has a magnificent view of snowy peaks, deodar and pine forests, tea gardens and beautiful hills.Dharamshala now really has become international, with a number of Tibetan settlements and the residence of Noble Laureate the 'Dalai Lama'. Dharamshala is devided into two distinct parts : lower Dharamshala the civil and business area with Courts and Kotwali bazar and upper Dharamshala composed of places like Mcleod Ganj and Forsyth Ganj.

Dalhousie located on the outer slopes of the Dhauladhar range, is another important hill resort in the district Chamba . A number of picturesque walks run through the oak, pine and deodar forests around the town and offer excellent views of the Chenab, the Ravi and the Beas valleys. It is thicky wooded with stately pines and oaks and has lovely picnic spot all around. Dalhousie is the gateway to Chamba. Originally conceived as a sanitorium by its founder Lord Dalhousie.
